Make the most of Dave & Buster's Networking Night!

Hey Everyone!

I was thinking of making this little list that would help make the most out of one of the biggest night for APAA members and executives! You don't have to follow this list but use whatever you find useful.

1. Get plenty of mints! You are going to do a lot of talking and having mints will ensure that you feel fresh. Or you could take this more directly and avoid the possibility of bad breath.

2. If you have facial hair, either go for a clean shave or just fix the stash that you want to keep.

3. If you have a two button suit, keep the lower one open at all times. If three button suit then either the first one or the first two should be buttoned. Definitely not all three.

4. Exchanging business cards are vital. But try to make a genuine impact before bringing up the topic of exchanging business cards. If you did in fact made an impact, the recruiters will find ways to mark your card or just value it more than those that would just come up to them and shove their business cards without any sort of interaction.

5. Let's be real, there will be a lot of us trying to make an impression. This leads to a huge circle around the recruiter. But honestly it doesn't take much to make space for the person joining in late. It'll also show the recruiter that you are not all about yourself.

6. Ask questions for which you don't have answers for. Don't ask something that you think would make an impression on the recruiters and once you get an answer, you barely value it.

7. Don't stress! The recruiters are human too and they want real conversations!

8. Listen to what your fellow peers are saying. It'll show that you are a great listener and that you are patient for your turn.

9. Talk to as many recruiters as you can. Especially for the firm that you really want to work for. And also keep mentioning your name so that they can remember you better.

10. Don't be Mr. Know It All. They are looking for someone that is personable and easy to talk to. Just relax and be yourself! I am sure some will definitely click with it!

This is a night that you want to make the most out of. Just be positive and enjoy!
